NASA launched Wednesday a new rocket it hopes will one day return astronauts to the Moon on a two-minute test flight. The Ares I-X rocket blasted off at 11:30 am (1530 GMT) from Cape Canaveral in Florida after a series of delays due to poor weather conditions. Standing 327 feet (100 meters) tall, the Ares I-X is the longest rocket ever built, and it was the first spacecraft the Kennedy Space Center has launched other than a shuttle in 30 years. The Ares I-X is a prototype of the Ares I, wh

Samsung has shown off a 7-inch netbook running a 1024 x 600 resolution OLED display at FPD 2009 (Flat Panel Display 2009). The model has a brightness of 300cd/m2 and a 1000000:1 contrast ratio.Personally, I can’t say I’m looking forward to OLED-equipped netbooks in the near future. Firstly, I imagine pricing would be prohibitive as you scale up to larger display sizes and secondly, OLED displays are very poor in direct sunlight. Yes, their vibrancy and contrast can’t be matched when used indoors

This is a prototype so if we find it doesn’t really work you’ll need to remove it all.Add a Twitter feed option into each user account type on the website, this being Listeners, Artists, Studios and Stores. Basically we would need to create a field in the ‘Edit profile’ of a user for them to enter in their twitter username. When saved it will display their Twitter Feed which will need to be added to the drop down

Sony has shown off a new single-lens camera able to capture 3D images. The majority of existing 3D set-ups use two-camera systems to record images tailored specifically for the left and right eye of the viewer. The new camera takes a single image that is split by mirrors and recorded on two sensors, resulting in a “smoother” picture, according to Sony. The prototype camera will be unveiled at next week’s Ceatec electronics show in Tokyo, Japan. Viewers will be able to watch the 3D

PhoneArena has reviewed the LG GM750 and seems pretty impressed by the device, despite the pretty obvious deficit of a consumer-targeted phone lacking a 3.5mm headphone jack. They concluded: Expectations : With the appealing overall design and properly personalized interface of the LG GM750, LG can get off to a flying start on the Windows Mobile market. Certain functions start relatively slowly on our prototype, but if the issues have been fixed, the retail units can prove to be a
